MY FIRST CALIFORNIAN DREAM

Two years ago, after visiting Chicago, I said to myself that I would visit all the United States of America, there are many, but I think I can do it, after having always been on the East Coast, to see NewYork, Chicago, Boston, Washington. .. this year I wanted to start with the West coast, and of course California, more precisely SanFrancisco, the city of the Bay, the city of the Golden Gate ..
The flight obviously was very long and I didn’t sleep in practice for almost two days, but it was worth it, the direct flights had a little high costs, so I preferred to make a trip with a stopover, more precisely a stopover in NY, then after 9 hours direct from Milan to NY, I made a stop for 5 hours, and left for another 7 hours of flight for SFO.I arrived that it was now midnight, but from the taxi with the city lights that warmed my heart I said to myself, I arrived, my Californian dream begins. My vacation, my journey to discover this new city begins on a Sunday, my hotel was right in the center, Union Square, a stone’s throw from the shopping street and the museums and theaters. Geary Street, after an american style breakfast (pancakes and fruit with coffee) I headed to the center of Union Square where I bought a 48-hour ticket, for those tourist buses that take you almost anywhere and you can get on and off whenever you want the famous HOP ON HOP OFF, the cost was 72 dollars, but counting that I didn’t stop for a while until evening it was worth it.What I saw is a wonderful city, neighborhoods full of history, neighborhoods where reality makes you understand that America is not just the rich nation as many believe, Tenderloin is the poorest neighborhood I’ve ever seen in the states, I saw the neighborhood where the LGBT movement was born, I saw how a city like Sanfrancisco, is open minded, there is no discrimination of race or sex, I fell in love with the inhabitants of this city, I love the part it plays as Marina District up to pier 39, made on foot including a part on the beach, beautiful .. have you ever walked on a beach with the Ocean that bathes the sand and the sky that does not promise anything good? well I would and I would do it again immediately!

Obviously, like the other American cities I visited, I think we need to start with an already organized plan, to say that I prepare it myself, because I travel alone, or rather like I say around I travel with my camera, and after looking at the photos that I will publish you will be able to understand that it is true.

The tour with the tour starting from Union square, let’s say it starts from the middle, so now I sign you the places to visit based on how I saw Sanfrancisco.
1_ San Francisco city hall, the town hall, in front of this there is also the Asian art museum, this square apart from the fact that it is beautiful and is surrounded by the most beautiful monuments and the Opera House, and the palace of the supreme court, really deserves to be visited!

2_ Union square, you can visit it at any time, full of shops and malls just to name one MACY’S

3_ FINANCIAL DISTRICT _ that takes a nice slice of the coast, with tall buildings facing the ocean, public transport that connects the whole area, up to the Ferry Building and Embarcadero

4_ Pier 39 I visited it in the afternoon, around 5 pm when the sun starts to Calare, I saw the sea lions beached on the pier, they loved to be photographed, for dinner I stopped to eat with an ocean view, in a beautiful place eating the best fried squid ever eaten in my life.

4_ fisherman’s Wharf, this is the perfect place for lovers of street food, then if you are lovers and curious to discover the history of military ships of the first and second world war I think you should not miss the visit to the SS. JEREMIAH O’BRIEN

5_Marina District which in the end is a continuum of the pier 39 and of the Fisherman’s Wharf, always walking on the coast in practice, passing through Hyde Pier and passing through the maritime museum, walking in front of the beach here the quiet is the master.

6_ LOMBARD STREET, from the outset that you absolutely have to go and visit it but if you are not fond of heavy walks go with the cable cars that lead up to the top, because I walked to the top and I swear, my heart was coming out of my chest . Worth to be visited, perhaps the most photographed street in the world, a slope such as to have to create these flowery curves that are the most famous all over the world and make this street nothing short of extraordinary.

7_ PRESIDIO_is perhaps the largest area after Chinatown, beautiful, elegant with a huge road leading to the golden gate, and various internal streets that lead to the Walt disney Museum, to a very elegant residential area in an area that is being redeveloped just these days, at the Palace of fine art, and more ..

8_ CHINATOWN _take Newyork’s Chinatown and multiply it by 5, here is the largest Chi’town in the United States. It deserves to be visited and not only for lovers of Chinese food, but also for shops and temples

9_ Alcatraz, the island, the maximum security federal prison, the place where the natives of America have claimed their place in such a big state, the Prison that has seen “guests” like Al Caponela the history of this place will enter it in the mind, with the audio guide following the whole story, you will understand that it was hard to be there for both the guards and the prisoners.

but San Francisco is not only this, it is the Japan and spanish quarter, the Italian quarter, the ice cream museum, the Coit tower, and much more worth a visit so when you find them, you immediately spend 45 dollars (7 days) for the passport ticket for all and I stress all public transport! and turn up to get the blood out of your feet because believe me the whole city every corner will not make you regret the choice.
